Vegan, Gluten-Free Anti-Inflammatory Breakfast Bowl

I sometimes have lower back pain, and this is my go-to breakfast when I want to soothe the inflammation in my back. This is also great if you’re a little sore from working out (I also love marshmallow root for that- which is in Throat Coat tea, and available as a supplement) or if you’ve been eating too much sugar and your body is feeling it.

It’s important to pair the black pepper with the tumeric, as several sources I found said this helps the tumeric absorb. I think they taste great together, and though tumeric isn’t the sweetest spice, I think you’ll find its bitter flavor to be perfectly complemented by the pepper and berries.

Of course, if you need a heartier breakfast, double the oatmeal or add your favorite crunchy cereal on top, like Grape Nuts or puffed spelt.

  • I prefer to eat this dry, like cereal with the milk poured over. If you prefer, combine all ingredients in stovetop pan and heat, stirring frequently, until the oatmeal cooks. Add more milk as desired.
